Longterm review of the Kodak AZ652 camera

My next superzoomcamera

but not anymore ...

Update 2 early 2025 :

I have donated the Kodak AZ652 camera to a local school.

Update 1 early 2025 :

I found the last (new) Panasonic FZ1000 (worldwide ?!) online and was extremely lucky (and happy) !

During the last half of 2024 I did not find any new FZ1000 anywhere worldwide anymore. Non, nada, niks, niente, rien, nichts. But suddenly there showed one up, and even in an official shop in Spain. I bought it immediately and I am Happy again !

It is my third FZ1000 already. I bought the first one secondhanded in 2017 but it was swallowed by an unexpected higher wave while timelapsing at the beach. I bought a new one rightaway in 2019 which lasted until it's screen broke down. And I bought a new one now early 2025.

You can find my Very LongTime Panasonic FZ1000 camera-review here🖱️.

No more Kodak AZ652 for me !

I did not like this camera for a number of reasons.
- The body is to small for my right hand which means I was continously pushing the buttons at the right side.
- It has a bad filenumberingsystem since it starts all over again from zero if you remove pictures from the card. That caused me quite some losses before I realised "the same" picture was not the same picture when I copied them to my laptop.
- Files always start with the number 100_xxxx.jpg, so not with a letter, like with a P (or I). That is to my opinion not the most handy system.
- It took me quite some energy to get used to it's menu-structure.
- First star-lapses showed a lot of bad pixels which however had disappeared on newer recordings.
- Last but not least the Kodak helpdesk is "rather difficult" to contact. The company has a huge amount of producttypes, factories and offices.

This review of the Kodak AZ652 will cover the period from july 2024 on.

The mainscreen of my Panasonic FZ1000 broke down (electrically) so I could not make any special pictures anymore since I could not swivel the screen anymore. Since those kind of pictures are a "way of life" for me I decided to look for a successor.

That would not be the FZ1000 mark 2 since it's upgrade has no use for me. The touchscreen can not be operated for at least 300 days per year in the full sun. And I prefer hardware-buttons anyway. Where it's price is "upgraded" from some € 600 to € 1000.
